World’s Topmost Crude Steel Producing Countries in April 2019

The crude steel output by world countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) rose significantly during April this year. The monthly production data suggests that output by the 64 countries reporting to the association has edged higher by nearly 6.4% over the previous year. These countries had accounted for almost 99% of the total world crude steel production in 2017.

The world crude steel production totaled 156.671 million tonnes (Mt) in Apr ‘19, as compared with the output of 147.245 Mt in April last year.

China led world’s crude steel production with an output totaling 85.032 Mt. The country accounted for more than 54% of the global steel production.
